Child Custody/Timesharing

Child custody/timesharing issues are sometimes the most contentious and emotionally charged that arise when a family is in transition. Everyone is affected and often the child’s best interest is lost in the shuffle. Ideally parents will put a child’s needs first, but this is difficult to sustain as a case winds its way through the New Jersey family court system.

Thankfully, there is a better way to resolve timesharing issues. Mediation provides a way for transitioning families to make important decisions about the time children spend with each parent. The process puts the power into the hands of the parents and they have the final say regarding all issues of custody and timesharing without expensive and time consuming custody evaluations; frequent court proceedings; and the lifelong emotional damage caused by “custody battles”.

The key to successful timesharing mediation is a dedicated caring experienced mediator. A skilled mediator facilitates productive discussion and helps both sides focus on the future of the entire family. If you want to spare yourself and your children the pain and suffering of a contentious custody/timesharing fight, mediation is the way to proceed. Joan Geiger can help.
